Bengaluru was once celebrated for its tree-lined avenues, cool weather, and rich biodiversity. But with rapid urbanisation, green spaces are shrinking, air quality is deteriorating, and things are heating up – literally.

Hasiru Bengaluru is our response to this crisis, and this initiative is how we plan to increase Bengaluru’s natural heritage by growing dense, self-sustaining native forests within the city.

So What Is Hasiru Bengaluru?

Hasiru Bengaluru is a high-density plantation programme to regenerate and rejuvenate greenery and biodiversity in urban spaces. Apart from adding to Bengaluru’s beauty, a greener city is essential for public health, climate resilience, and long-term sustainability goals.

The project focuses on:

Planting native tree and shrub species in degraded or unused city plots
Restoring biodiversity corridors and groundwater retention zones
Reducing urban
heat islands and improving air quality
Building
climate-adaptive neighborhoods rooted in natural ecosystems

How are we doing it?

We’re using an urban forestry model that mimics how real forests grow. By planting native species in a dense and layered way, these lush, green zones will support biodiversity, and eventually thrive on their own within a few years.

Where is this happening?

Across the city, especially in areas vulnerable to heat, dust, and ecological degradation. From unused government lands, to community-nominated spaces, if there’s potential for it to become a green lung (or pocket), we’ll use it to increase the city’s green cover.
